About: National Anti-Vivisection Society NAVS

The National Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS) is dedicated to helping abused animals by ending exploitation of animals used in science by promoting greater compassion, respect and justice through educational programs and advocacy. Their research has shown the cruelty and waste of vivisection. They are promoting positive solutions that advance humane science with alternatives to the use of animals.

Vivisection is the use of animals for scientific purposes. About 1.5m – 2m animals are used in research each year, including cats, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, marine mammals, nonhuman primates, pigs, rabbits, sheep and other farm animals.Number of Animals Used in Research

In addition, classrooms have used animals for dissections by students, many of whom never go into research or medicine. They are taught that animals are expendable.

With NAVS support, 90% of all U.S. medical schools have completely abandoned animal labs and replaced them with more modern, cost-effective and humane alternatives. Veterinary science joined their ranks.

Everyone can help by trying to buy cruelty-free products. To search for products by company name,  product, or category on the NAVS site, click HERE.
